Get a Ph.D. in Funology
February 20, 2008
Funology, as I am sure you can guess, is the science of having fun. This website offers a conglomeration of facts, activities and games that you can use to influence your students to have fun while learning. While the color scheme is hideous and the content is a bit difficult to navigate, Funology offers lots to do. I am a sucker for inane facts, and there is a whole section here called “That’s Odd…” dedicated to quirky and useful facts that you might know or didn’t know you knew. For example, in the Human Body category, you’ll find gems such as “If all the blood vessels in your body were laid end to end, they would reach about 60,000 miles.” See, you probably didn’t know that.
As well as facts, you can also check out games and activities you can do either on- or off-line. Categories such as “Boredom Busters,” “In the Kitchen,” and “Tummy Ticklers” offer dozens of activities to keep your young students busy when they get bored of the same old worksheets. The site is geared towards K-5 students, teachers and parents, but being young at heart will allow you to become a Funologist in no time. – JEREMY S. GRIFFIN
