Monitor the news as it happens (almost) at This Just In from CNN

Cable news network Cable News Network (that’s CNN to you and me) has launched a new blog for breaking news, This Just In. This blog will post news updates just after they happen, as well as other items that are “interesting and worth sharing.”
This Just In is a handy resource for journalism and social studies classes. It’s also a good way to get students to keep track of current events.
The price we pay for up-to-the-minute updates, however, is sometimes not getting much in the way of details. For example, the story South Korean news agency: Navy ship sinking near North Korea weighs in at a paltry two sentences in its entirety. Most posts are a bit longer, but This Just In’s value is its immediacy rather than depth, and that immediacy allows readers (hopefully your students) to get hooked by a story and follow it from the very beginning.
